Hello

I’m Jemima Golding, a children's author, nature lover, and passionate storyteller. When I’m not writing, you’ll often find me exploring the South Downs or strolling along the beach, soaking up the inspiration from the natural surroundings.

I live with my two wonderful children and our beloved dog, who keep life full of adventure, laughter, and, of course, stories!

A Lifelong Love for Books

Books have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was captivated by horse stories and still treasure my childhood collection. But my love for storytelling truly began in nature—I would imagine voices for the animals and wildlife I encountered, creating little conversations that eventually turned into full-fledged stories.

This creative spark led to my debut children's book, The Boy and the Butterfly. Inspired by a butterfly that visited us daily—hovering, landing, and almost seeming to communicate—this story teaches young readers about friendship, inclusivity, and the beauty of nature.

The Magic of Reading with Your Child

Reading together has always been a cherished tradition in my home. I read with my children every night from the moment they were born—until they became teenagers and (to my dismay!) decided they were “too old” to read with their mum!

But I believe you’re never too old to share a story, whether it’s through reading together or enjoying an audiobook. Just 10 minutes a day can spark a child’s imagination, nurture their creativity, and strengthen the bond between parent and child.

Some of my favorite memories include reading the entire Harry Potter series with my son—often reading long after they had fallen asleep because I was just as hooked on the story as they were!

Let’s Stay Connected!

I truly hope you and your little ones enjoy The Boy and the Butterfly, and I look forward to sharing many more stories with you.
